Final Outcomes

I used some of my final images for digital environment in my virtual tour around a 3d model to make the place have some colour and appear more interesting. I have also used some of these images as part of getting connected, or rather getting connected merged into digital environment more as I used the photographs in this project to come up with business cards as well as using my digital skills to create digital posters to advertise the end of year degree show at the market hall.

My original business cards that I used in getting connected and at WOSAT did not consider the use of text or even the placement of the text. In truth the text was just plastered on top of my photographs which was unattractive and gave the impression that my photographs could have text applied to them regardless of the use. This is not true however as I realised further when I design some new business card ideas. This time round I learned from my mistakes and I made myself consider the placement of the text in regards to the chosen photographs. I used my dream catcher photographs instead of the clouds as the dream catchers were the most appropriate photographs that I had which related to my most recent work with the Holly and George branding for creative identities.

Future plans for my business cards would be to finally create them and get them printed out rather than have them one sided and not fully finalised. Updating my website with the digital images or creating relevant posters using my own work in them is another outcome that I should pursue in more detail as I never did create any poster with my own work attached other than the one that I made for my virtual tour around the creative hive.

Promotional Images

After brainstorming in my logbook I decided to use the photographs that I took and edited using photoshop and use them for business cards.

Above are the three business card ideas that I came up with. Ideally I would have made and got them printed double sided using moo.com but because the estimated delivery date too late for WOSAT when I looked it up to see if I would print my sticker labels, I decided I would just have to print and cut them out myself using white card or sticking the paper onto card (oh I could use my a4 sticker paper that I am using for my labels!)

These business cards were only quick ideas which I came up with after looking at other peoples business cards on the fine art and vis com courses. The first card idea is too dark and the text is very hard to read, I would either change the background image so it was brighter or use a different image so it was clearer too. I could also change the colour of the square that is behind the text too as well as altering the text colours.

The second card idea was better as it is more colourful and the text is easier to read too. I still think it needs improving though as the text is still slightly difficult to read. The last business card has improved slightly more as I decided to use a different image with more of the darker colours that make the text difficult to read located around the outside of the shaded square that the text is on. This card however still has flaws as the end of the text on each line is difficult to make out. The end of the website link, the email address and facebook.com are the most difficult to read. i think I will have to try different colours of text or even a different image for the background. Ideally I would also create business cards that are double sided, however I will have to rethink this idea as I am not too sure on how to create my cards, I will probably still want to use moo.com as well though.

3D Modelling

So part of this project is to show off what I can do with all the technical words and reasons for doing it. So for this I have used part of my 3d model of a study space and I have tracked a camera around the building. I originally had made it so you would look through a camera as I used direction keys and the mouse to direct the camera around the space. This wasn't smooth, it was jerky and unrefined. The program i used to record the screen, and run blender (which is what i used to make my 3d model) lagged my laptop out half way through the walkthrough so I needed to try and minimlise and smooth out the walk through.

Below is a screen shot of a path I created using shift A, path and then make the route. To make the camera follow the path I made I clicked on the camera, added an object constraint, follow path, nurbs path. As I wont be adding any keyframes to animate the camera, I will make the camera track an empty axis. I will then add keyframes to the empty axis to make the camera look at different points. The camera will track the empty axis when i click on the camera, then empty axis then use CTRL T, track to constraint. i had issue but found that the if the camera didn't follow the path then i had to hit animate path in the object constraint panel. i hit i and location, to set ppoints on the empty axis.

More Cloud Lapse Edits

above are screenshots of editing the image as well as saved images showing the changes and crops.

Dreamcatcher Shots

I managed to finally hang my dream catchers outside to get the sunset shining through them.

Dreamcatcher Shadows

Got round to taking some shots of my dream catchers with a portable lamp shining through them to help create shadows. I haven't managed to edit them to make them usable for anything remotely professional looking but I can see an advantage to creating shadows and photographing my dream catchers and eyes of mexico (the diamond kites) using a studio lighting set up because as soon as I had shadows in the background with a dreamcatcher in the foreground, it made the image more interesting and appealing.
