Sunset and Cloud Shots

Below are the contact sheets for the 4edited images I showed in my previous post, along with all the other shots taken that evening.

Sunset Shots

These are four images which I edited after originally photographing the sunset at home in Laxey. No deep meaning behind them, I had to experiment for this project, I liked the colours, so I capture the colours. I enjoyed taking and editing them so much that I think I will go take some more shots.

Experimental Photoshopping

Above are edits of some of the artichoke photographs. In the bottom two shots I have added in an edited version of a wire figure I made. I change the colours in photoshop using the curve tool to alter the colour balances. I prefer the bottom left to the bottom right because the string that the wire figure is attached to has been placed so the blue in the string and in the artichoke merge together. The bottom right figure has been warped because the string wouldn't cover the entire image which didn't work well, so I warped the figure to make it closer to the blue colours shown in the highlights
of the artichoke.

the green dreamcatcher has a spider web inspiured weave. The screen shot below the green is the image after altering the curve levels. The bottom left image is an inverted version of a wire eye of mexico I tried to make.  Right image is my wire figure i made with the background removed, unfortunatly the string it was attached to is still present, which is odd as everything appeared removed, but it is not important so no need to perfect the art of the eraser tool for that image.

Bus Ride Home

Once more, earlier on in the project, when I didn't have a more directed focus to work towards, I decided to record my journey on the bus home from the market hall to Laxey. Like with the sound recording, the files are way too big to even try and attempt to upload them onto this blog so I want to speed them up and compress the file size too.

Using Adobe Premier Pro to shorten and speed up the videos so they only  last a few minutes instead of realtime, I then had to use Adobe Media Encoder to compress the file size further for the video showing my journey home from Douglas to Onchan (first video).

note:there should be no sound on these videos, I removed any sound if there was any as I was only trying to capture what I could see, I also don't think the mic was turned on on my phone but I didnt want to record noise anyway. The video on the right, that should end at 2.25 too... unfortunately the video files I had aren't on my sd card or laptop as I was using the computer at the market hall.

Studio Lighting - Coloured Gels

The 5 photographs around the right and bottom sides are a few of the shots I took whilst experimenting in the studio with coloured gels placed in front of the red head lights. When we were in the studio we found some paper models and an artichoke lying around so we used them as our subject matter.

Studio Lighting - Light Painting

The images on the left are the originals, with the edited images on the right beside them. I used photoshop CS6 to edit the JPEG images. The levels were altered, the dodge and burn tool was used and I cropped them. The first image is just a black and white image with no level changes or cropping or a dodge and burn tool used. Images were taken in the studio with a provided camera from the college. Led lights were used to light up the two smokey shots and the smoke was achieved by exhaling after holding the smoke from an electronic cigarette.

Pin Hole Coke Cans - Success!

Success! Out of the pinhole cameras that I did use, most of them came out okay. I still don't find them very clear but I am able to make sense of most of them.
